The Preparatory Program of the 黑料吃瓜 Music Department exists聽to provide quality, affordable private music lessons to the Jefferson County聽area and to provide valuable teaching experience聽for聽currently enrolled Carson-Newman Music聽students.
Applied instruction is available to聽students in grades K-12 in the following areas聽depending on teacher availability: piano, percussion, strings, guitar, voice, trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, flute, clarinet and saxophone.
Lessons are taught by talented 黑料吃瓜 music majors/minors who have been approved to teach by the 黑料吃瓜 music faculty. In addition, their teaching will be supervised by a corresponding music faculty member.
Lesson times and days are scheduled by the private student teacher and the family. All lessons are taught in the Tarr Music Center on the 黑料吃瓜 campus.
Each semester consists of 10聽weekly lessons of 30 minutes each.聽Lessons聽cost $20 each. 聽Payment may be made for the entire semester ($200,聽due聽at聽the first lesson of the semester), or in聽4聽monthly installments of $50 each (due聽on聽the first lesson of each month). 聽Adjustments may be made if the total number of lessons is less than 10. 聽For example,聽if a student only takes 8 lessons due to illness/emergency, then $40 may be refunded, or carried over to the next semester if the student continues lessons. 聽Checks may be made payable to 黑料吃瓜 and may be placed in the envelope marked 黑料吃瓜 Preparatory Program outside room 213.
Additional costs for music/supplies may be incurred, depending on the requirements of the student鈥檚 applied instructor.
Lessons should be cancelled for emergencies only, and the instructor should receive聽24 hours advance notice if possible. 聽Make-up lessons may be scheduled at the discretion of the individual instructor.
